My second piece for Ea Juun Hwa, this was written for his dance "Fall Up." This was my third fully notated piece of music. I had the extreme good fortune of being able to work with Gamiel and Antonio, two very talented musicians. The written score was really more of a structured improvisation, with a tonal outline leaving rhythmic freedom to the performers. This was done for two reasons - (1) it was an experiment in musical freedom, as I had been reading about the music of 20th century experimental American composers, and (2) it allowed me to write a piece for a dance that I had not yet seen.
